Theories of Multilingual Development

This course aims to discuss different theoretical approaches that have been proposed to account for language development in bilingual individuals. In particular, innate and usage-based theories will be discussed, as well as proposals that have been put forward to account for individual differences. Discussions will be based on studies exploring language development in various domains (vocabulary, morphosyntax and phonology) and across different contexts of bilingualism.
